Supplications
The Rope of Retribution: Humility Bound by Divine Justice
O Allah, if I am bound by pride, untie my heart from arrogance, bind it instead to sincere humility, and guide my actions to reflect Your mercy and justice.
Surah 111, Ayah 5
The Ruination of Arrogance
O Allah, shield my heart from the venom of arrogance and grant me humility in every thought, word, and deed. Make my hands, like those of Abu Lahab, incapable of harming others, and let my actions bring You closer, not farther.
Surah 111, Ayah 1
The Mirage of Material Riches
O Allah, bind my heart not to the fleeting wealth of this world but to the eternal blessings of Your mercy. Guide me to seek wealth that benefits Your servants and to value what You have granted me beyond its worldly appearance.
Surah 111, Ayah 2
Daily Actions
The Rope of Retribution: Humility Bound by Divine Justice
Whenever pride or hubris surfaces, pause, visualize the twisted fiber rope, and recite a short reminder of Allah’s supremacy.
Surah 111, Ayah 5
The Ruination of Arrogance
When you notice any hint of arrogance in your thoughts or words today, pause, recite this verse, and consciously replace it with humility.
Surah 111, Ayah 1
The Mirage of Material Riches
Before every act of spending or acquiring, pause and ask: ‘What is the true value of this action beyond its material benefit?’
Surah 111, Ayah 2
Reflect
The Rope of Retribution: Humility Bound by Divine Justice -- In what moments do I let arrogance tighten its grip, and how would my life change if I were truly bound by the rope of divine retribution?
The Ruination of Arrogance -- Which of my actions today were driven by self‑importance rather than sincere intent, and how might I have handled them differently if I had remembered that arrogance is destined to be ruined?
The Mirage of Material Riches -- When did I let wealth dictate my priorities today, and how did that influence my sense of purpose and contentment?
Weekly Challenge
The Rope Challenge: For seven days, keep a ‘Pride Log’. Each time you feel a surge of arrogance (in speech, thought, or action), pause, visualize the twisted rope, and recite the short dua. Note the trigger and your emotional response. At the end of the week, review the log, identify patterns, and set one concrete intention to replace pride with humility in that area.
Surah 111, Ayah 5
Stand upright, close your eyes, and for 30 seconds imagine a thick rope of twisted fiber tightening around your neck. While breathing slowly, say silently, "Allahu Akbar, I submit to Your will, and I am humbled by Your justice." Surah 111, Ayah 5
Stand, close your eyes, take three slow breaths, then say the verse aloud: "May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he." Immediately write down one instance of arrogance you feel in your heart and write a counter‑action (e.g., a kind word, a helpful gesture, or a sincere apology). Surah 111, Ayah 1
